Our History
The story of Chiarla Giovanni
Winemaking tradition since the late 50s
Our history has deep roots, which sink into the heart of the Langhe. Uncle Giovanni started the business around 1960, the third of five sisters and two brothers in a family of humble origins in Cissone.
Soon left without a father, everyone made do with the countryside and livestock farming, also growing grapes and producing wine. With the help of his brother Pier Franco, the economic boom and the growing demand for Dolcetto, the company grew rapidly.
The move to
Dogliani marked a new beginning, until
the construction, in 1985, of the current cellar in Pianezzo, symbol of a passion that has continued for generations.
Innovation in Piedmontese Wine Production
Towards the end of the 1950s, the Chiarla Giovanni winery was founded, a point of reference for the production of quality Dogliani wines.
From the years of the economic boom, when Dolcetto reigned supreme in Turin, to the innovations of the 70s with the introduction of wines such as Barolo, Chiarla Giovanni has always been able to combine tradition and innovation.
Our business ranges from wholesale wine sales to a refined production of DOC and DOCG wines. We firmly believe that good wine should be accessible, and not an elitist privilege. For this reason, we produce quality wines and sell them at the right price.
Our logo, the rampant lion of Dogliani, represents the strength and determination that we put into our work every day
